5 Days Aberdare Trekking Adventure Safari

We will pick you up from your Hotel/ Residence in Nairobi by private transport to Nyeri town where you will link up with the Porters and the Guide. After registration at the Park headquarters, Drive Through tree Tops Gate, drive up for 45kms to reach the Reed back Camp site. (The drive through the Salient area is worth the while and Animals that can be found include elephant, buffalo, the Black Rhino, leopard, baboon, black and white Colobus monkey and sykes monkey. Rarer sightings include those of the golden cat and the bongo – an elusive antelope that lives in the bamboo forest. Eland and serval cats can be found higher up in the moorlands.Bird-watching is very good here with over 250 species of birds in the park, including the Jackson’s Francolin, sunbirds and plovers. The birds of prey are of particular interest with African Goshawks, Ayres’ Hawk Eagles, Rufous-breasted Sparrow Hawk and Mountain Buzzards.You will get at the camp site at 2pm, Walk to the Karuru water falls.. This is a 4 hrs walk… but it’s worth every step. The Karuru and Gura water falls are amazing. Spend the afternoon accompanied by an armed ranger as you visit the water falls to include the Queens Cave waterfalls. You will be waking up with views of Beautiful sunrise against the Mt Kenya to the East, after breakfast you will set out and trek through the moorland, viewing high altitude plant life. Elephants, lions, buffaloes, antelopes and various bird species can be encountered as you proceed towards Honi River campsite after taking some time to view Channia water fall another Magnificent water fall in the Aberdares. Lunch will be Picnic at some point half way the Days Trek. Dinner and overnight at Honi river camp site (6-7 hours)Accommodation: Camping in a Basic Camp site

Another Beautiful Morning, after breakfast, hike through the Hagenia Forest to Wanderis Road head Campsite. This is a relatively Short day. You will be at the Camp site for Hot Lunch… in the late afternoon Visit the Water Hole and later you will be back at the Camp for dinner and overnight (walking time 3.5 hours)Accommodation: Camping in a Basic Camp siteCampsite is inside the Aberdare National Park

Wake up at 0530 Have Coffee and Biscuits and Start trekking before Sunrise. Hike to the top of Satima Peak (4001mtrs) which is the highest point in the Aberdares overlooking the Great Rift Valley. This walk well over 3000m high moorland characterise the Aberdare National Park, Wonderful views to the west the Dragon Teeth and to the east, Mount Kenya. Later descend to the campsite for Breakfast Cam Lunch. Break Camp and hike down to the Forest Camp site. Diner and Overnight at the Campsite (7-8 Hrs walk)Accommodation: Camping in a Basic Campsite inside the Aberdare National Park
